DESCRIPTION:Flyer\nWhat is it:\nIn light of the release of the new 2024-25 FAFSA form\, NCLC is partnering with Essex County College\, with support from HESAA\, to hold a Saturday FAFSA completion workshop for Newarkers. Lunch will be provided. \nThis session will be held at Newark Public Library\, Main Branch\, 5 Washington Street\, Newark\, NJ 07102. \nWho can attend:\nAnyone can attend! The workshops are open to the public. There is no age requirement. High school students\, parents\, college students\, adult learners\, are all welcome to attend. \nHow to attend:\nRegister here to attend. These will be in-person events. \nFor virtual events\, please visit the HESAA website and view their FAFSA completion dates. \nWhen and where:\nSaturday\, March 9\, 2024 \n10 am – 12 pm or 1 pm – 3 pm \nNewark Public Library\, Main Branch \n5 Washington Street\, Newark\, NJ 07102. \nWhat to do now:\nPartners:\nAccess and information are the best ways to support students at this time.\n\nPlease share the flyer/link and information about these sessions in your space and with your networks and students/families.\nLet us know if your organization will hold any FAFSA completion information sessions so we can share and promote.\nInform the public that FAFSA is for anyone who wants postsecondary education — two-year\, four-year\, and VoTech students should all submit a FAFSA.\nStay tuned for more information about FAFSA.\n\nThose submitting a FAFSA for school:\nPreparation is key.\n\nCreate an FSA ID now. FSA ID’s are required usernames for FAFSA. They take 1-3 days to be verified before they can be used to submit a FAFSA. Create an FSA ID BEFORE attending FAFSA completion sessions. There is an alternate process to create an FSA ID if you do not have a social security number.\nGather necessary documentation to make FAFSA completion easier.\nHave the list of ANY schools you are considering. FAFSA can be sent to a school\, even if you don’t apply or attend.
