FREE FAFSA Completion and Information Workshop
Flyer
What is it:
In light of the release of the new 2024-25 FAFSA form, NCLC is partnering with Newark Public Library, with support from HESAA to hold FAFSA completion workshops for Newarkers.
These sessions will be held at different library branches to serve as much of the Newark community as possible.
Who can attend:
Anyone can attend! The workshops are open to the public. There is no age requirement. High school students, parents, college students, adult learners, are all welcome to attend.
How to attend:
Register here to attend. These will be in-person events.
For virtual events, please visit the HESAA website and view their FAFSA completion dates.
What to do now:
Partners:
Access and information are the best ways to support students at this time.
- Please share the flyer/link and information about these sessions in your space and with your networks and students/families.
- Let us know if your organization will hold any FAFSA completion information sessions so we can share and promote.
- Inform the public that FAFSA is for anyone who wants postsecondary education — two-year, four-year, and VoTech students should all submit a FAFSA.
- Stay tuned for more information about FAFSA.
Those submitting a FAFSA for school:
Preparation is key.
- Create an FSA ID now. FSA ID’s are required usernames for FAFSA. They take 1-3 days to be verified before they can be used to submit a FAFSA. Create an FSA ID BEFORE attending FAFSA completion sessions. There is an alternate process to create an FSA ID if you do not have a social security number.
- Gather necessary documentation to make FAFSA completion easier.
- Have the list of ANY schools you are considering. FAFSA can be sent to a school, even if you don’t apply or attend. You must add schools to your FAFSA for them to receive it.
- Find out dependency status according to Federal Student Aid.
